Theatre group's competition winners

Newtown Musical Theatre Company has announced the winners of its recent competition to design a Disney character.

Such was the high standard of entries, an extra prize was awarded in each category judged by local artist Frieda Hughes.

The winner of the junior section (4-11 years) was Jordan Parry, aged 11 from Wrexham. Runner up was Olivia Rhiannon Wilson, aged five from Carno, and the second runner-up was Serah Morgan Page, aged five from Churchstoke. The prize draw winner was Niah Rees, aged nine.

In the older category (12-16 years), the winner was Olivia Raymond-Hayling, aged 13 from Hertfordshire. Runner-up was Jodie Breakwell, aged 16 from Tregynon, and the second runner up was Georgia Marsden, aged 12. The prize draw winner was Sinead Hegarty, aged 13 from Llanidloes.

"We would like to thank everyone who took part in the competition and would like to thank Wates Living Space and JU Bowen Construction, who provided the prizes, for their generosity.," said a theatre group spokesman.

The competition was arranged to coincide with NMTC's forthcoming production, 'Be Our Guest – A Celebration of Disney', to be performed at Theatr Hafren, Newtown on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th October.
