Women can make it happen

01/02/2021 @ 05:13

When empowered women connect, innovative things happen.

According to ‘The Alison Rose Review of Female Entrepreneurship’ only one in three entrepreneurs in the UK are women. The team at Focus Newtown Enterprise Hub see this as an excellent opportunity to drive change, and have teamed up with inspirational business owners across Wales and BeTheSpark to host ‘She Can Start’ – a virtual conference all about inspiring women to launch their own business.

The conference will run on 26th February 2021 from 10:00 – 15:30 and will feature award-winning speakers including: winner of BBC’s The Apprentice 2016 and founder of Ridiculously Rich by Alana, Alana Spencer, Shann Jones owner of The Chuckling Goat, TEDx speaker and international marketing mentor, Teresa Heath-Wareing, Gaynor Morris from Development Bank of Wales and Lee Morgan from NatWest.

Holly Jones, Hub Manager at Focus Newtown Enterprise Hub said:

“This event has been a long time coming and something we are very excited to share with everyone. We have an incredible line-up of inspirational and successful businesswomen to join us as we celebrate and encourage women in business. We’ll be talking about everything from marketing through to access to funding – something which has been noted as one of the biggest barriers women face in business.”

Designed to support women in the local community who are looking for inspiration, want to connect with other women and build relationships with like-minded people, this conference is fully funded and open to those in Powys, Ceredigion and Mid Wales. In partnership with BeTheSpark, we will bring together exceptional entrepreneurs, leading business minds and dynamic service providers to connect, learn and share best practice.

“I’m thrilled to be part of such a fantastic event to celebrate entrepreneurship amongst women in Wales. As a business owner myself, I know how difficult it can be to take that first step. I’m looking forward to speaking alongside the other four amazing women. I’m so glad that despite current restrictions we’re still able to host this event virtually and reach more women in the region,” commented Alana Spencer, owner of Ridiculously Rich by Alana.
