BBC TV programme wants to make over a local garden

Created on 29/05/2020 @ 10:17
A former Newtown man who now works for a TV production company is urging local people to apply to have a garden make over as part of a television series.

Gideon Brends-Sherif contacted MyNewtown to say he was keen to hear from residents who felt their garden could do with improvement and would be willing to be featured on television.

Working as a Casting Assistant Producer for Remarkable, he and the programme-makers will be casting in the area over the coming weeks and filming soon under Covid-19 conditions.

"Last year we made another successful series of Your Home Made Perfect that went out on BBC 2. We are now branching out in to people’s gardens and we are casting in your area, last year you were kind enough to run a piece and we found two of our contributors because of it," said Gideon.

Filming will only take place once Welsh Government lockdown regulations have changed.

"We are aiming to film in Summer and Autumn 2020. Our activities will follow the government’s coronavirus guidelines, but please bear in mind that participating in the show means that we (and those working on the garden) will need access to participants’ houses and gardens for filming and garden renovation purposes.

"If you are selected to participate, we will discuss practical considerations regarding access and health and safety."

A programme statement says: "It’s often the most overlooked part of the house but it could radically transform the way you live: YOUR GARDEN. Do you believe there is huge potential in your plot but you simply can’t see the grass from the trees?

"Are you ready to take the leap that could transform the way you and your family live? BBC TWO’s groundbreaking show ‘Your Home Made Perfect’ is branching into the nation’s gardens, and this is your opportunity to take part.

"Competing designers will immerse you in cutting edge technology to show you awe-inspiring designs for your new garden. And then you get to choose the one you want to build in real-life.

"Do you have an unispiring backyard, a nightmare front terrace, a problematic patio? Or is there a bigger problem? Perhaps there are issues you can’t fix in your home which could be solved by an ingenious transformation outside? We want to hear from you if you have a budget set aside and a burning desire for change."
