Posties fancy dress helps vital food bank

Newtown's posties are at it again.

For the past two weeks they've had fancy dress on to raise money each Thursday. In the first week they raised more than £7,000 for the NHS and now they're raising money for the Newtown Food Bank.

Today, they presented the Food Bank with items and £300 as they began their deliveries from the Royal Mail depot in the town.

Sam Jones of the Salvation Army, which leads on Newtown's food bank, is pictured receiving some of the food parcels.

Last week we reported how demand for food parcels had jumped by more than 50 per cent over the past month.
