On the day when 15 new jobs were created with the opening of a town centre clothes shop, mynewtown understands that another is due to close.
It is believed that CK’s Supermarkets in the Ladywell Centre will close its doors for the last time in three weeks time, with the loss of seven jobs.
It follows the closure of the chain’s supermarket on Pool Road last year which cost eight jobs. Both shops were only opened in 2009 by the Llanelli-based company.
One shopper that mynewtown spoke to this morning said: “It’s very disappointing. It was such a handy shop for me as I live in the town centre and have no intention of going out of town to Tesco or Morrison’s. I hope something else comes offering the same or it will leave a big hole in the town centre.”
CK's Supermarkets has been contacted but has not commented officially, however it is believed the employees were informed of the impending closure this week.
Earlier today, Store Twenty One opened for business in the old Woolworths building.
