Clubs fail Alliance inspections

Berriew’s hopes of an instant return to the Huws Gray Alliance have been boosted without even kicking a ball this week.

The Spar Division One leaders face a tough battle to win the league with Llanrhaeadr and Llansantffraid Village both in hot pursuit.

But last night, the Huws Gray Alliance revealed that their rivals, who have also applied for promotion, still have work to do on their grounds in order to meet league criteria.

League secretary Chas Rowland said: “I can can confirm that Berriew passed the inspection but Llanrhaeadr and Llansantffraid Village have not. They will now have until April 30 to meet the Huws Gray Alliance criteria.”

Should both teams decide not to carry out further work, Berriew would need to finish in the top two to gain promotion.
