Angel postponement is so costly

20/01/2011 @ 09:55

Angel Welshpool were again the victim of the weather as their away game to Elephant, Llanidloes was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, and the Crown took full advantage by winning 8-2 away to Forden Utd.

The scoreline flatters them a little bit as Forden led 2-1 after an own goal from Tony Meredith and a strike from Chris Hughes, and although the Crown rallied, they only led 3-2 at half time. The foot went to the pedal then, and goals came flooding in from James Langford (2), Gareth Bromley (2), Lee Jones, Tony Meredith, Neil Pryce and Michael Cockram.

All references to the Angel, Newtown have now been expunged from the League databases and the result on the League table is more significant than first imagined as some sides had not played the Angel at all and others had played and won twice. So now, the Crown have a five point lead over Angel, Welshpool but have played one game more, whilst Forden now prop up the table on bottom spot with 9 pts.

At Newtown, Elephant Wanderers cemented third place with a 4-2 win against Churchstoke Reserves. Scoring for the Wanderers were Craig Scott, Cliffy Lawson, Nathan Jones and Paul Hines, and replying for Churchstoke was Liam Taylor (2)

Abermule played the other game and took on high flying Oak, Llanidloes and took advantage of the bogging conditions in the village to break down their visitors, beating them 3-1. Scoring for Abermule were Nick Turner, Elliot Jones and Mike Galvin.
