Newtown starlet Josh Evans is joining Technogroup Welshpool on loan until the end of the season.

Manager Chris Herbert is delighted with the arrival of the former Shrewsbury Town youngster.

"I did say that I was finnished with signings unless someone comes along who is good enough to get straight in to the team, and thats exactly what happened," said Herbert. " The signing of Josh Evans is something I've been trying to get sorted out for a while now and I'm made up that its come off.

" He has turned down the chance to go to Guilsfield and a few other teams in our league, but he decided that after coming to watch us last weekend that he would fit in with our style of play and really liked where the club is heading. I would like to thank Andy Cale for his help on this loan signing, after realising that Josh will gain valuable experiance with us he gave me permission to chat with Josh.

"He will be a major signing as he is quick and tricky and has great quality on the ball, and he can play anywhere on the left hand side, Josh is the cousin of central midfielder Tom Evans and that may bring out the best in Tom as well."

Newtown boss Andy Cale said, "This is a good move for Josh. It gives him the chance to play regularly at a high standard and he can only imrove from that. He has a big future at Newtown and this is all part of his development programme."

Herbert has also signed central defender Dan Barnett from Market Drayton. He has made over 70 Welsh Premier League appearance and has figured for Welshpool in the past.
