Caersws, Llanidloes, Monty march on

Spar Division Two high flyers Montgomery showed they could comfortably slip into the top flight after seeing off Tywyn Bryncrug in the third round of the Central Wales Cup.

The seasiders sit comfortably in Division One mid table but were no match for Montgomeryshire Cup winners Montgomery who advanced with a 3-0 win.

Goals from Richie Evans (2), Luke Williams, Tom Lapworth and Andy Davies saw Caersws come through a tricky encounter with Spar Division Two candidates Machynlleth 5-2.

Llanidloes thumped the Amateur League’s last surviving club Bettws 10-1 and Carno are through courtesy of a 2-0 win over New Quay.

Elsewhere, it was a disappointing day for Kerry who went down 3-0 at Bow Street while Abermule lost 7-0 at Penrhyncoch. Guilsfield nearly doubled their goals tally for the season with an incredible 11-1 win over Cardigan with Ross Frame and Graham Dyke bagging hat-tricks.

Jon Gamble scored his first since signing for Berriew who beat the Aberystwyth students 6-1. Top scorer Will Thomas bagged two and there were further goals for Marc Jones, Rhydian Morris and Mark Probert.
