Newtown hit rock bottom

Newtown hit rock bottom in the Welsh Premier League at Bala last night.

The Robins crashed 4-1 to their relegation rivals with manager Andy Cale absent on England duties in their worst diosplay of the season.

A quickfire double from former Wrexham ace Mark Jones - both of them gifts - ended any hopes that Newtown had of mounting a fightback at Maes Tegid.

Bala Town led 2-1 at the break thanks to a stonewall Josh Macauley penalty on the quarter hour and a goal from Chris Mason after a terrible error from Paul Keddle, either side of  Keddle's well taken effort for the Robins.

Jones then scored in the 58th and 59th minute to lift Bala off the bottom as the Robins collapsed with further dreadful errors leading to both goals.
