Ex-Caersws ace back in area

Chris Herbert has made his 14th signing in six weeks for Technogroup Welshpool after capturing former Caersws hot shot Chris Melia from Cefn Druids.
The striker signs two days after Montgomery youngster Tom Evans made the jump and both are set to be thrown straight into the starting line-up against Rhayader on Saturday for a bottom of the table Huws Gray Alliance clash.
“I played upfront with Chris when we were at GAP Connahs Quay together so I know him and he is a good signing for the club,” said Herbert. “I’ve been looking for an experienced striker who can score goals, and Chris fits the bill. He was leading scorer at Caersws last season, and hopefully he can do the same here. He is good in the air, hold the ball up and obviously score goals.
“Now there is huge competition for places, and lads have to perform to the best of their ability to keep their place, otherwise there is always someone to take their place. There will be a few unhappy people on Monday when I name the squad, because I can’t involve everyone. But it is up to them to bounce back and prove I was wrong to leave them out.
“Two games ago we would have been lucky to get a half decent side together, now we have got a side than can compete with most in the league.”
