Cale impressed but game is OFF

Newtown manager Andy Cale says Saturday's 1-1 draw at Carmarthen was the best performance of the season but tomorrow's game at home to Airbus is OFF.

Cale is facing up to another blank weekend as he plans transfer window arrivals and looks forward to a difficult holiday period. Referee Mark Farrington called the game off at 4-30pm today.

"It was easily our best performance so far and we fully deserved all three points which gives me real hope that things are starting to come together," said Cale.

"We were robbed of two points by an injury time goal when really we should have been well out of sight byut the next two weeks will tell us just how far we have come," he added.

Newtown are due to meet Aitbus, who ended Bangor City's 15 game winning streak with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday, at Latham Park tomorrow and then face festive season clashes with league champions The New Saints, followed by tyop of the table Bangor City and top six side Port Talbot.

And sandwiched in between they have to rearrange cancelled matches with Llanelli and Bala, while it is highly uinlikely that tomorrow's game with Aitbus will go ahead following the heavy snow.

"The next few fixtures will prove just how far we have progressed," said Cale. There are real signs of improvement as a team and I hope to make a couple of additions during the transfer window to freshen things up.

But Cale warned supporters not to expect big names moving to Latham Park. "I want to attract young and ambitious players here and where possible would like them to be local," he said. "There is a real opportunity here for talented local players to develo, but if the talent is not there we will have to look outside."

A Latham Park pitch inspection is planned by referee Mark Farrington at 2pm
