It was agony for Newtown yesterday as Carmarthen snatched a last minute goal to deny Andy Cale's charges a deserved victory.
Shock of the day was manager Andy Cale decision to replace keeper Dave Roberts with veteran assistant manager Lee Williams and the 42 year old saved the day with a brilliant injury time save.
A Tim Hicks injury time header gave Carmarthen a share of the spoils after Craig Whitfield had put the visitors ahead on 75 minutes. But in reality Carmarthen were indebted to keeper Mike Lewis who kept the Richmond Park outfit in contention as he denied the Robins with a string of fine saves.
Following a goalless first half Newtown were rewarded for their endevour when when Marc Lloyd Williams broke down the left hand side before crossing in for Whitfield to break the deadlock and put the Robins ahead with a deserved goal.
But with the game into injury time Town's determination saw Hicks get his head to a Nick Harrhy corner to earn a point before veteran Robins keeper Wlliams pulled off a brilliant save to deny Sacha Walters' well struck free kick as Town came within a whisker of taking all three points.
The Robins were reduced to ten men deep into stoppage time when Shane Sutton saw red having earned a second yellow and there were also bookings for Keddle, Whitfield, Hartshorn and Lloyd Williams as referee Darren Adie went booking mad as Carmarthen collected three cautions as well in front of 306 fans.
