Former Newtown boss back in game

Former Newtown FC boss Roger Preece is back in the Welsh Premier League with Airbus.
EX-Wrexham and Chester legend Preece has joined Craig Harrison's back room set-up at Airbus UK Broughton.
Preece will work alongside Andrew Thomas on the coaching side and be a pivotal contributor to Harrison, say the Wingmakers.
Preece, 41, began his career as an apprentice with Coventry City but, in August 1986, moved to Wrexham where he made more than 100 Football League appearances before being released in 1990 and switching to local rivals Chester City.
He helped Chester win promotion from Division Three in 1993/4, scoring in the promotion clincher against Hereford United on 23 April 1994.
Preece was named player of the season the following campaign but was to play just one more game for the club before a tackle by Hartlepool's Mick Tait on the opening day of the following campaign ruled him out of action for the remainder of the season.
He eventually left the club in October 1996 after failing to recover, spending the remainder of the season with Southport and Telford United.
After returning to The Football League as player–coach with Shrewsbury Town, he teamed up again with boss Jake King at Telford, where the pair worked together until Preece became Newtown manager in June 2003.
He remained in charge until October 2006, leaving after a 6-0 loss to Rhyl, and later coached at Gap Queen's Park, Connah's Quay and Welshpool.
"It`s fantastic to get someone of Roger's experience and know how into the club, he comes highly recommended by lots of people in Welsh football and the fact he has played lots of games in the Football League means he will get instant respect from the lads," says Harrison.
"As everyone knows we have not replaced Carl Darlington, who left us to join TNS at the end of last season, and I am confident Roger's appointment will prove to be a perfect replacement for Darlo and will have massive pluses for me as the manager and for the club as a whole."
Preece says: "I have been really impressed with the way Craig spoke so passionately and his drive and determination to take the club forward means I am really looking forward to joining an ambitious club that have made great strides forward over the last few years.
"I am also looking forward to meeting and working with the players, and hopefully my experience will benefit them and help them get back to the form they showed not so long back."
