Newtown Manager Andy Cale earmarked new arrival Marc Lloyd Williams (Jiws) for praise as he prepares for the important Welsh Cup tie with Bridgend this weekend.
Jiws was back for a second spell at Latham Park on Sunday and his first game of the season conincided with Newtown's best performance so far.
"He used all his experience and talent to pose problems for Aberystwyth and was also a huge help to the youngsters in the side," said Cale.
"Jiws may not have the legs to run defenders anymore but he still has the ability to be in the right place at the right time and with a little more luck could have bagged a couple of goals on Sunday.
"He will be a huge help to young players like Jamie Breese, who will learn so much about positional play and keeping possession from playimg alongside him.
"Sunday was the first time that we have dominated a game this season and it was having Jiws in the side that allowed us to adopt a different playing pattern."
Lloyd Williams is certain to be in the starting line-up against big spending Bridgend in a very important match for the Robins with much needed prize money at stake.
But Cale warned against complacency against the Welsh League title hopefuls.
"Bridgend are ambitious and have an experienced squad. We have had them watched and the reports are that we face a difficult test."
Gavin Cadwallader remains a big doubt with the groin injury that kept him out of the side on Sunday and Dave Swannick is suspended. Chris Hartland returns after a one match ban.
