No stopping The Bluebirds

30/10/2011 @ 08:22

There’s just no stopping Caersws in their relentless charge up Huws Gray Cymru Alliance  table. The Bluebirds saw off Mid Wales rivals Llanrhaeadr 3-1 at The Recreation Ground yesterday to leave their early season problems a distant memory.

Mark Griffiths put Caersws on their way as early as the 16th minute and Neil Mitchell made it 2-0 after 56. Emyr Roberts gave the league newcomers a glimmer of hope on the hour but Scott Quigley made it 3-1 on 75 minutes.

Guilsfield lost the other Mid Wales derby against Penrhyncoch who came out on top with a 3-1 win.

Stuart Fraser gave Penrhyn the lead on 7 minutes only to see Danny Barton level seven minutes 7mins later. Jon Foligno made it 2-1 on 56 minutes and Josh Hartick made it 3-1 on 62 minutes.

Llanfair United pulled off the shock of the day in the Spar Mid Wales League Cup by dumoing first division leaders Monrtgomery out of the competition 2-1.

Goals from Andrew Hughes and Luke Gethin were enough to win the tie for the Mount Field side.

New Berriew manager Mike Barton got off to the perfect start with a 1-0 win at Aberaeron and Welshpool Town are also in the hat for the second round draw after winning a thriller at Maesydre.

Town beat Kerry 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out after a fiery 120 minutes saw the sides level at 2-2. Referee Dean Evans was kept busy throughout and sent off Welshpool’s Tom Gethin following a 20 man flare up between the dug-outs.

Abermule went through thanks to a 5-2 win over Meifod while Carno were put out 2-0 by Llansantffraid. Dyffryn Banw’s problems continued as they went down 2-1 to Machynlleth and Four Crosses won the local derby with Llanfyllin 3-2.

Llanidloes figured in a thriller at Rhosgoch with the game ending 4-4 and the Daffs winning 4-2 on penalties.
