Ross is out of the Frame

Llanfair United have taken the Mid Wales football scene by storm this season, only losing their 100 per cent league record on Saturday, but they have suffered a blow in their bid for Spar Division Two promotion.

Under Rhys Stephens, a clutch of A-listers returned to their home town club to create a buzz not felt for many years at the sleeping giant.

But two of the star players that returned to play their part have now moved on, with summer captures from Guilsfield, Rich Astley and Ross Frame, now unavailable for different reasons.

Astley has departed for a trip round the world while Frame, one of the finest young players in Welsh non-league football, has switched to his university side UWIC after returning to Cardiff studies.

“When I left Guilsfield in the summer I explained that I wanted to help my home town club for a few games before returning to university and that’s what has happened,” said the former Welsh schoolboy international. “I will only be back for Christmas this season so I have committed to playing for UWIC for the rest of the season.”

Rules state that players can only sign for two clubs in a season (not at the same time) so the door is open for Frame to switch back home, and Llanfair’s growing faithful will hope to see his return in the club’s colours again.
