Montgomery back on top

20/10/2011 @ 10:23

Montgomery Town returned to the top of the Spar Mid Wales Division One after ending the worst run of results since the club reformed four years ago.

Two successive defeats have been unheard of since Clive McNamee revived the club in the old Amateur League second division, making last night’s match at improving Llansantffraid Village all the more important.

But normal service was resumed when Gaz Bromley put them ahead after 35 minutes before Llansantffraid, unbeaten in three, levelled on half time.

But the game was decided by a moment of brilliance from Dan Lewis who volleyed home a Jamie Bocking cross on the hour.

As Monty went back to the top, Welshpool Town returned to the foot of the table after losing by a single goal at home to Aberystwyth University.
