Superb victory secures a double over Carmarthen and moves them off the bottom
Newtown were celebrating victory last night after securing a league double over Carmarthen Town with a 4-2 win.
And with results going the Robins’ way, the club not only moved off the bottom but climbed to eighth in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier table.
Newtown were 2-0 shortly after the half hour with Jamie Pryce converting a free kick after 15 minutes before Steve Blenkinsop completed a slick move to score from 15 yards.
But after the break, the visitors hit back when Lee Hartshorn gave away a penalty before the Robins restored their two goal margin through Nick Rushton. Carmarthen pulled themselves back in contention with their second but Newtown responded immediately and Blenkinsop scored his second almost straight from the re-start.
