Big weekend of Cup action

If Guilsfield are to reclaim their Huws Gray Alliance Cup this season, they will have to start with the toughest tie possible at high flying Rhyl this weekend.

 

The Guils have found themselves on a decent run which has lifted their early season blues but tomorrow they will face a stern test at the league leaders for their first round tie.

 

In-form Caersws travel to Flint Town United tonight (Friday) in good heart having scored eight last Saturday against Llangefni and Llanrhaeadr host Penrhyncoch.

 

Four Montgomeryshire sides enter the FAW Trophy second round with Spar Division Two Four Crosses side looking to continue their adventure against the once great Brymbo.

 

Carno entertain Llandyrnog United, division two high flyers Llanfair United welcome Llanrwst while Berriew face a long trip to Pwllheli.

 

Montgomery will look to bounce back from their first league defeat of the season last week when they travel to Builth Wells in the Spar Division One.

 

Elsewhere, Dyffryn Banw host fellow strugglers Welshpool Town for a big six-pointer while Llansantffraid Village entertain Bow Street. Waterloo Rovers, buoyed by a well deserved midweek victory over neighbours Welshpool which saw them move into fourth, travel to Tywyn Bryncrug.

 

In Division Two, leaders Knighton travel to bottom side Meifod looking to take advantage of main rivals Four Crosses and Llanfair being involved in cup action. Kerry take on Tregaron while Llanfyllin go to Machynlleth.

 

In the JT Hugh Montgomeryshire League, Llangedwyn can go top of Honda Division One if they keep their 100 per cent record intact at home to Llansantffraid Reserves. In Mitsubishi Division Two, Trefonen or Morda Reserves have the chance to go top depending on how results go with Four Crosses Reserves not in action.
