Llani face Cup player probe

11/10/2011 @ 12:31

The Montgomeryshire Cup is to investigate claims that Llanidloes played four players from outside of the 10-mile radius in their 5-1 win over Abermule.

It is alleged that Gareth Mansell, Karl Seliearts, Jamie Breese and Aaron Warwick all reside outside of the permitted zone from which players must reside for the competition, throwing more controversy on the under-pressure competition.

A decision is expected in the coming days, and this latest incident follows Guilsfield’s decision to withdraw last week from their match with Llanfair United.

The competition has enjoyed an early start this season after two years of problems, and while it has generally gone well, it appears there will still be a rocky road to the final.

Meanwhile, Llansantffraid Village have suffered a double blow with the news that inspirational midfielder Simon Edwards is a long-term casualty and centre half Glen Evans has switched clubs.

Edwards faces a lay-off until Christmas whilst awaiting a knee operation while Evans, who has returned from injury himself, has joined Llanfyllin Town who are managed by his father Graham.
