There was a mixed bag of results for Newtown Football Club at the weekend as the first team slumped to the bottom of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier but the reserves were in commanding form.
Newtown travelled to fellow strugglers Airbus UK on Sunday and despite fighting back to draw level from a 2-0 deficit, they were undone by an 83rd minute strike. Nick Rushden and Jamie Pryce had brought the Robins back on level terms.
Meanwhile, the Reserves enjoyed their best afternoon since reforming this season with a resounding 8-1 win over Llanon in the Emrys Morgan Cup. Marcus Ashley bagged four goals and further strikes from Marc Salvati (2), Lewis Sim and Joe Evans saw them through to the second round.
