And it was no more exciting than at Caersws who’s tie with Conwy United went all the way to penalties after Graham Evans’ fine strike was cancelled out in normal time.

 

And when the tie went to penalties, goalkeeper Dave Jones stepped forward to blast one home and save two to see his side through.

 

Guilsfield’s revival continued when Will Thomas’ rich scoring form continued at Rhos Aelwyd for a 1-0 win. Gaz Bromley bagged a hat-trick as Montgomery marched on with a 4-0 win over Connah Quay Town and Llanidloes edged through with a 4-3 win over Glantraeth.

 

But there were also defeats for Llanrhaeadr at home Holyhead (6-1) and Carno at home to Coedpoeth (2-0) who missed out on the 750-pound bonus for reaching round three.

Meanwhile, in the Spar Mid Wales League, Waterloo Rovers are in a good run of form following a 4-1 win over struggling Dolgellau, while neighbours Welshpool Town went down 4-2 at Bow Street despite two cracking strikes from Andy Frost and a goal disallowed late on when the score was 3-2.

 

Berriew were denied a dramatic win on Friday night when they shared eight goals with Rhayader while Llansantffraid Village returned from Tywn Bryncrug with a point.

 

In Division Two, Llanfair United remain unbeaten after seeing off Machynlleth 6-1 while Four Crosses beat Talgarth 2-0. Abermule shares six goals with Tregaron but Llanfyllin’s woes continued with a 3-2 defeat at Knighton.

 

But the best happiest news of the day came from Meifod who were celebrating a rare win by beating Aberdyfi 5-2.
