The anticipation of all the Mid Wales clubs which play in the North Wales Leagues actually playing this weekend was dealt a blow with the news that Machynlleth's home game against Bro Gwernant has been postponed, writes Gary Williams.
For those games which are going ahead, Welshpool, fresh from their impressive comeback last weekend against second-placed Colwyn Bay - 8-21 down just after half time to win 25-21 - will be looking to maintain their winning ways in Division Two North despite a tough trip on the road to Teirw Nant in Llanrwst.
Although Nant's position in the table suggests that they are not as strong as in past seasons, Pool will do well to come away with the spoils.
Newtown travel to Abergele for a game which they will be looking to pick up points. Both clubs sit near the foot of the table but Newtown's recent improvements and Gele's inconsistency in results and fielding full teams, means that this is one that the visitors will be targeting for some much sought-after points.
Both Welshpool and Newtown are playing well at the moment and, at home, are a match for anybody in their Division. However, it's picking up away points which is proving difficult but hopefully this is a weekend when both will be celebrating happy away days.
Unfortunately, for December 17, Welshpool's home league game against Rhyl has already been postponed at the visitor's request.
In Division One North, COBRA entertain last year's champions Llandudno and know that they will need to be at their best to get something out of this game. The Meifod men will be hoping that Dudno's rustiness (having played just four league games this season) will continue for at least another week.
In Division Three North East, Llanidloes, with a 100% winning record, make the short journey to COBRA 2nds who sit mid-way in the table. On paper, it's another win for the boys from Llani, but derby games have a habit of throwing a spanner in to the proverbial and the final scoreline could be very close.
COBRA's youth team make the long journey to Bethesda to play in the semi-final of the North Wales Youth Cup.
