Newtown finish in seventh in Shropshire Division One following a final day defeat at champions Shrewsbury II.
John Anthony (40) top scored as Newtown were dismissed for 151, a comfortable target for Salop who won by seven wickets in the 17th over.
David Whitehouse hit a superb century as Welshpool II (pictured) clinched the Shropshire Division Seven title by just one point!
Sitting neck-and-neck with Harcourt at the top of the table prior to the final game, Pool’s 20 points for beating Condover II, coupled with having an official umpire for the additional point secured the title and Division Six cricket next season.
Whitehouse was the star man, with the opener’s 106 contributing massively to Pool’s 222-7, but it wasn’t an easy afternoon as the hosts went after the total before Will Gannon (3-36) pegged them back to limit the reply to 200-7.
Relegated Montgomery signed off from a disappointing Division Two season with 119-run defeat at St Georges II.
Despite Ed Bennett’s 3-41, Monty were set 245-7, but were bowled out well short on 126.
Nick Davies (89no) made short work of Welshpool’s run chase after Shifnal III were dismissed for 141. The eight-wicket win meant Welshpool finished a respectable fourth.
Guilsfield & Llandrinio finished their first season in Division Four in seventh following a sensational run chase at their LHG Oval.
A magnificent unbeaten 146 from Calverhall opener Martin Williams left them with a mountain to climb, but all-rounder Duncan Todd smashed a marvellous 100 not out – his first century for the club – to see them home with an over to spare and just four wickets lost.
Skipper Dave Lewis hit a swashbuckling 52 from just 30 balls, while Rhodri Davies added 48 runs.
Adrian Foulkes took 3-19 to give Llanidloes a positive end to a largely frustrating season. Visitors St Georges III were bowled out for just 111, allowing Rob Davies (81) to steer them to an eight-wicket win, and sixth in the Division Five table, a place ahead of Newtown II who were beaten at home by Wellington 4ths.
Skipper Tom Corfield hit another century as Montgomery II finished on a high, beating Corvedale by 109 runs.
Brian Corfield (69) provided superb support as Monty reached 260-4, and then dismissed the visitors for 151. The win left them seventh.
