Montgomery Town opened up a five point gap at the top of the Spar Division One after maintaining their 100 per cent record at Berriew last night.

Montgomery have lost just two from their last 43 matches and came away from close rivals Berriew 3-2 victors as the clubs closest to them faultered.

None more so than Llanidloes Town who lost their second home match of the season against a Waterloo Rovers side 3-2 who reacted to a rollicking from manager Dale Roberts in the best way possible.

There were mass celebrations at Welshpool Town who are slowly pulling things together and fully deserved their 3-1 victory over Dolgellau at Maesydre.

But Rhayader fell off the pace, losing 4-3 at home to Bow Street to ha nd the early season advantage to Montgomery.

Meanwhile, in Division Two there were 2-0 defeats for Abermule at Llandrindod Wells and for Kerry at Presteigne.
