There was good news for Caersws after a turbulent week which saw them prepare a defence for unknowingly playing an unsigned player.

The Bluebirds beat Huws Gray Alliance bottom side Penycae 3-2 after Richard Evans’s early opener for Caersws was cancelled out by Ben Jones. But Caersws bossed the second half and two goals from Mark Griffiths either side of Mike Latham’s strike secured the spoils.

Guilsfield threw away a two-goal lead to slump to another home defeat which leaves them stuck on one point from seven games.

Will Thomas found his scoring touch to fire a double salvo and put Guilsfield into the lead after 23 minutes but a reply on half time from Darren Thomas reduced the arrears.

Then Porth delivered a hammer blow in the second half when, first, Marcus Orlik equalised on the hour before Rhyan Roberts’ winner 10 minutes later condemned the villagers to their sixth league defeat of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday night was one to forget for Llanrhaeadr who were thumped 8-0 by reigning champions GAP Connah’s Quay who had Gary O’Toole (4) in top form.

Amongst the FAW Trophy results, goals from Ross frame, Paul Griffiths and Andrew Hughes saw Llanfair United advance 3-1 at the expense of Barmouth. Four Crosses went through in dramatic fashion, needing penalties to see of Castell Alun Colts after it finished 3-3 after 90 minutes.

Berriew advanced with a thumping 5-0 win to put the smile back on manager Neil Pryce’s face despite having to put full back Jon Gamble in goal with regular stopper Dave Jones unavailable.

Welshpool Town’s woes continued at Anglesey side Amlwych Town who scored two second half goals for a 2-0 victory.

In the Spar Mid Wales League, Montgomery took advantage of Division One rivals in cup action to ease past Bow Street 3-1 with youngster Elliot Jones bagging another two. Dyffryn Banw returned from Dolgellau with a welcome 3-2 win while Builth Wells piled more misery on Llansantffraid Village with a 2-1 win.

In Division Two, Abermule returned to winning ways with a 1-0 over Talgarth while neighbours Kerry hit top form with a 4-0 victory over Bont.

Champions Llanidloes Reserves took advantage of Caersws Reserves slipping up at Llanrhaeadr by beating Berriew Reserves in Honda Division One of the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire Amateur League.

Goals from Adrian Foulkes, Chris Davies and Ashley saw them win 3-1, while Caersws Reserves went down 2-1 with Gary Jones and Mike Roberts netting for Llanrhaeadr Reserves. Colin Reynolds replied.

Guilsfield Reserves are gathering momentum and recorded a 3-1 win at Churchstoke thanks to goals from Dan Pritchard, John Pritchard and an own goal. Adam Nottingham scored for Churchstoke.

Llangedwyn edged past Carno Reserves 2-1 with goals from James Broadbent and Sam College.

In Mitsubishi Division Two, a brace from Mark Emberton and one from Ash Hilditch ensured Four Crosses Reserves continued to do well in their first season with a 3-0 win over Kerry Reserves.

Llandrinio have filled the void from Forden’s demise and got off to a winning start with a 2-1 win over Waterloo Colts with Adam Knight and Dave Walton on the scoresheet. Nick Roberts replied.
