£30K salary for Welsh Premier post

12/09/2011 @ 08:04

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is offering £30,000 a year to the man or woman who can turn around the fortunes of the Welsh Premier.

The post of League Secretary has been advertised today (Monday) after long standing incumbent John Deakin confirmed that this will be his 20th and final season in the hot seat.

And the successful candidate will inherit a hot potato, as the league continues to try and prove itself as a worthy domestic league despite wide spread supporter apathy and many clubs suffering financial problems.

The FAW says the full time position requires an individual with five years' experience in sports administration, passionate about domestic football in Wales and somebody with a vast knowledge of the Welsh Premier League. The closing date for applications is September 30.

A spokesperson said: “The FAW hopes to announce the successful candidate before the end of the calendar year.”
