Newtown step up the challenge

 Newtown stepped up their challenge for European football by beating rivals Penybont 2-0 in Souith Wales last night.

And with rivals Bala Town held 1-1 at Maes Tegid by champions The New Saints it really was a good night for the Robins.

Man of the match Craig Williams gave the Robins a first half lead with a Garerh Bale like free kick deceiving the home keeper and the outstanding Fumpa Mwandwe made the game safe after the break.

There were some hairy moments in the Newtown penalty box in the second half where keeper Dave Jones produced some smart saves, though he was almost caught out by a near post free kick from Ken Owens.
