Robins are back on track

Newtown stormed back to form in the JD Cyrmu Premier League last night, restoring their hopes of winning a European place again.

Newtown destroyed Caernarfon 4-0 at The Oval to put an end to the North Wales side’s own run of good results and are just two pints behind second placed Bala.

Nick Rushton put the Robins ahead after 34 minutes and Craig Williams hit a brace in the 48th and 51st minutes before substitute Jamie Breese rounded things off with a 94th minute goal.

Welshpool Town’s run of goo results stalled at home to Four Crosses in the Ardal North East League when they were held 2-2 at the Maesydre.

In fact Pool needed a 90th minute equaliser from James Clewlow to avoid a shock defeat at the hands of their near neighbours.

Ryan Knott gave Pool a fifth minute lead but Will Howard quickly replied and Ben Simms looked to have won it for Crosses before Clewlow came to the rescue.
