Hafren Cycling Club’s inaugural time trial season ended last week with Dave Gethin taking overall top place on 360 points after 11 events.
He was followed by Medwyn Jones (346), Max Gethin (346), Darren Jarman (338) and Stephen Owen 314) overall.
The final TT of the season was a 14 mile route from Caersws via Trefeglwys to Llanidloes and back via Llandinam involving 29 riders. Medwyn Jones took first place on 32.51 minutes, followed by Stephen Owen, 33.55; Max Gething, 34.01; Dave Gethin, 34.36; and Darren Jarman, 35.40.
The club hosts its Group ‘Road’ Ride at 9.30am this Sunday from the Flash Leisure Centre. The event, which is open to non-members, forms as part of the month-long cycling celebrations in Welshpool to mark the Tour of Britain starting from Powis Castle on Wednesday, 14th September. Cycling helmets are compulsory and under 18-year-olds must be accompanied on the ride by an aduly.
