Robins bounce back at Barry

Newtown leapfrogged Barry Town into the top six of the JD Cymru Premier with a 3-0 win at Jenner Park.

After last week’s shock Welsh Cup setback at the hands of Carmarthen The Robins were expected to struggle against Barry Town but cruised to victory.

And the man who did the damage was leading scorer Aaron Williams who netted all three goals. Williams tucked in a 33rd minute penalty and found the target again in the 49th and 66th minutes to see The Robins rocket up the table.

Title chasing Guilsfield edged a narrow victory in the JD Cymru North with a 1-0 win at Llanidloes.

A solitary strike from Jamie Hyne was the difference between the two sides at Victoria Avenue.

It was a bad day for both Caersws and Berriew with both clubs crashing out of the FAW Amateur Trophy. Berriew lost 5-3 to Bodedn Athletic while Caersws went down 2-1 at home to Ynyshir Albion.

Welshpool shared six goals in a 3-3 draw with Carno in the Lock Stock Ardal North East League. Pool scored through Ryan Knott(2) and Josh Lenc with Morris, Jack Orbell and a 93rd minute equaliser from Biggs as Pool again failed to hold onto a lead.
