Great start for Robins

14/08/2011 @ 01:45
Newtown overcame a late shuffle of the pack to return from an opening day trip to Carmarthen Town with three valuable Welsh Premier points.
It was a great start for the Bernie McNally era but the new boss was forced to travel without new signing Kevin Davies after it was revealed the defender was still banned from last season.
But it didn’t affect the side which got off to a great start with the only goal after 10 minutes from Robbie Millington.
It could have been a lot more comfortable too but Gareth Partridge missed his penalty on the stroke of half time.
New Robins keeper Nick Thomas made two great saves in the first half while Millington blasted over from a good position.
The Robins were in control in the second half but couldn’t find the second goal. Nevertheless it ended up as a fine afternoon for the Newtown faithful.
