Newtown slumped to a 93-run defeat to remain at the bottom of the Marston’s Premier League.
The bowlers played their part, keeping a tight line to restrict the visitors to 161-8 off their 50 overs with Martin Lewis claiming 4-30. Pace man Craig Davies also weighed in with 3-37 off his 16 overs as Newtown gave themselves a fighting chance.
But, not for the first time this season, the batting collapsed as the team was dismissed for 68 despite a useful 37 from opener Steve Davies.
Meanwhile, it was a tough day too for Newtown II who also suffered a defeat at the hands of Newport II.
