Newtown are right on track for a Europa Conference League play-off spot after a 2-0 victory over Flint Town United last night.
Goals either side of half-time from Jordan Evans and Tyrone Ofori were enough to give the Robins a deserved three points in a game that saw seven players booked.
And hopes were lifted as news filtered through that Haverfordwest were crushed 6-1 by Cardiff Met, leaving them just two points ahead of The Robins.
Evans netted after Newtown won a free kick on the edge of the Flint box on 41 minutes and doubled their lead six minutes into the second period.
Mwandwe again won a free kick in an identical position to the one that lead to the opening goal. Craig Williams lifted a high ball into the box and Tyrone Ofori netted with a volley after a goalmouth scramble.
