Jones leaves Guils for Bluebirds

18/07/2011 @ 02:26

Huws Gray Alliance goalkeeper of the year Dave Jones (right) has left home village club Guilsfield for rivals Caersws, completing a Montgomeryshire ‘full house’ after also playing for Newtown and Welshpool over the past 12 months.

The 21 year-old joined Welshpool last season from the Robins but switched to the Guils after Christmas. But he has been tempted away to join Mike Evans’ Caersws with Guilsfield manager Russell Cadwallader moving quickly to recruit former favourite Dave Littleford to fill the void. Ex-Wales schoolboy stopper Steffan Jones has also been retained, although his availability will again be limited by university commitments.

“It is very disappointing to lose Dave as he is one of the best keepers in the league but I am delighted to have signed two accomplished replacements,” said Cadwallader.

Jones was named in the Huws Gray Alliance team of the year last season and was club captain at Welshpool before switching to Guilsfield in February.
