Sutton back to boost Newtown

 Newtown manager Chris Hughes has delivered the club a Christmas present with the capture of former Latham Park favourite Shane Sutton from Telford.

Sutton, 31, re-joins the Robins having been away for three years after he left the club for the Vanarame Premier League North side in 2017. 

The defender, who joined the club from Shrewsbury Town in 2007, was captain of the Newtown side that won the Cymru Premier European play-off in 2015. 

Sutton bolsters a Newtown defence that have conceded 27 goals so far this campaign, averaging 1.8 goals conceded per game. 

But the defender will have to wait to make his second debut for the club when the Cymru Premier resumes, with play suspended over the lockdown period.
