Newtown Football Club have postponed their next three matches after a member of the camp returned a positive test for Covid-19.

The club have elite status and were therefore permitted to play in the JD Cymru Premier whilst all other local clubs were forced into a lockdown freeze this season.

But Newtown will be joining them with the upcoming matches against Penybont, Aberystwyth and TNS all postponed.

“Newtown Football Club can, unfortunately, confirm that we have received a positive Covid-19 test in the camp,” the club said in a statement.

“We have followed strict guidelines from the Welsh Government and the FAW since the outbreak of the virus and will continue to do so as we now enter a period of isolation.

“The club have been in constant communication with the FAW and have notified all of the appropriate authorities.

“We would like to wish a speedy recovery to those affected, and we hope to be back soon.”
