Fears that star Newtown striker Robbie Millington would miss the start of the season have been dispelled.

Bernard McNally's first game since his appointment as Newtown manager at Market Drayton ended in a goal-less draw but also saw Millington sustain a suspected broken ankle. But assistant manager Peter Carter has revealed that x-rays have revealed that the injury is only a strain and bruising and Millington will be fit to start the season.

The 19-year-old, who notched eight goals from 10 (+4) Welsh Premier appearances during the second half of last season, was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured ankle.

Millington made 16 Midlands Alliance League appearances for Bridgnorth Town before joining the Robins in January, marking his arrival with a hat-trick in a 4-1 win at Haverfordwest having already scored twice against the Bluebirds in a 4-4 draw at Latham Park.
