16/09/2020 @ 08:16

New striker James Davies netted twice for Newtown at Latham Park last night but still finished up on the losing side.

After their opening defeat at Flint in the JD Cymru League The Robins were hoping for better at home to Caernarfon, but went down 3-2 after trice taking the lead.

Davies put Newtown ahead when a Jordan Evans corner was only partially cleared and the striker headed in from close range.

But the visitors were level by half time when Mendes drove in a John cross to send the sides in level at the interval.

Newtown started the second half strongly with Davies netting again on 49 minutes but Sion Bradley quickly replied to make it 2-2.

And with seven minutes left on the clock Noah Edwards clinched the points for the visitors to leave Newtown still seeking their first points of the new season.

Newtown: Jones, Phillips, Kelly, McAllister (O'Neill 80), Mills-Evans, Mitchell, Rushton, Evans, J Davies (M Williams 64), Edwards, Hughes. Subs: Stevenson, T Davies, C Williams.
