Newtown maintained their winning start to the cricket season with a seven-wicket win over Alberbury in the John Rees Division One league.
With runs hard to come by, Craig Davies returned figures of 4-7 as Alberbury struggled to 88 all out, allowing opener Sam Morris (18no) and Tom Anderson (24no) to steer the hosts home.
Montgomery’s batsmen were in rampant form as they posted 247-5 at home to Ellesmere in the Shrewsbury & West Division Two.
Gareth Jones (66), Andrew Barker (53) and Aaron Ruff-Cock (80) all contributed to Monty’s impressive 247-5, before Tom Hughes took 4-36 to reduce the visitors to 147 all out for a 100-run win.
Welshpool maintained their emphatic form with a big win over Montgomery II in the Wales & West division.
