Five new clubs for Amateur League

The JT Hughes Montgomeryshire Amateur League will be boosted by the addition of five new clubs for next season but Welshpool Town Reserves have pulled out.
 
Abermule Reserves, Four Crosses Reserves, Newtown Reserves, Newtown Wanderers and Kinnerley have all signed up for the next campaign. Kinnerly have re-joined after an absence of over 40 years ago.
 
Welshpool have pulled out to concentrate resources on their first team’s campaign in the Spar Mid Wales League Division One.
 
Twelve sides will make up Division One with no relegation and Llanfechain, Llansantffraid Res and Llanrhaeadr Res all promoted.
 
Terry Hughes attended the meeting to confirm the company’s support for the coming year with his son, John Hughes, elected as a Vice President. All other officers were re-elected with Mike Morgan of Kerry becoming CWFA representative.

Terry Foulkes Referee of the Year - Derrick Arthur
Bernie Jones and Derrick Arthur Player of the Year - Darren Martin (Llanrhaeadr Res)
 
The season will begin on the weekend of August 19.
 
Meanwhile, the Dave Smith (Newtown) North Powys Ladies League has reteained nine teams for next season with all officers re-elected.
