22/04/2020 @ 10:38
Young Newtown cyclist Max Bufton should have been racing competitively this summer, but instead he's raising cash at home by cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats - virtually.

Max, 13, had been due to in the National Circuit racing series for Hafren Cycling Club.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has seen all of his planned races cancelled and lockdown has also affected training," said dad Paul.

"Max has switched his riding to the indoor trainer and virtual riding platform Zwift. Inspired by the efforts of frontline NHS staff during the pandemic and also various fundraising events including Captain Tom and Geraint Thomas 3 day ride, Max decided to challenge himself."

Max has undertaken to ride the equivalent of Land’s End to John o’Groats at total of 874 miles on the indoor trainer on Zwift.

He is doing 2x 90mins shift a day and in the first two days covered 132 miles.

Max is raising money for the NHS Charities Together and thanks to the kind donations, he has raised over £1000.
