All change at ambitious Abermule

17/06/2011 @ 11:13

Ambitious Abermule have announced that club stalwart Eifion Rees will be their manager for the coming season which will also see them field their first ever reserve side.

Rees was a player in 1970 when the club was formed and has been a long-standing member of the committee. Last season he missed watching just two games and is expected to appoint an assistant to support with coaching and training.

The appointment will also spice up the rivalry with Division Two rivals Kerry as Eifion’s son Dyfrig is skipper of the near neighbours.

Meanwhile, Lee Stephens, 28, has been appointed the reserve team manager having been with the club for three years after joining from Newtown Rangers. This will be his first managerial post.

It all adds up to exciting times for the club who have backed up the progress on the pitch with new developments off it.

Club spokesperson Bryan Jarman said: “We have had new dug outs, hard standing and perimeter railings so it is looking like a football pitch now!”
