Venables sinks Robins

The weather was the winner once again with only one football match in Montgomeryshire, and only three games beating the weather across Mid Wales in total.

Torrential Friday night rain put paid to any hopes of getting games on, with Newtown’s Latham Park once again proving its value by managing to stage the club’s JD Cymru Premier encounter with Bala.

But it wasn’t the outcome that the Robins hoped for, with former Caersws talisman Chris Venables striking his side’s second goal to secure a 2-1 win.

The two other matches in the MMP Mid Wales League saw Llandrindod Wells beat Carno, 2-1, to keep their slim hopes for the division one title alive, and Borth utilised Aberystwyth Town’s 4G pitch to beat the town’s students, 2-1, in division two.
