Strikers to the ‘four’

Two of the best strikers in the business were in sizzling form with four goals each to fire their sides into the quarter-finals of the Central Wales Cup.

Adam Jenkins was the central figure as Guilsfield won 9-0 at Waterloo Rovers with a strong second half showing, while Will Thomas looked sharp as he scored all of Welshpool Town’s goals in the 4-1 victory over Rhayader.

There was another hat-trick too for Berriew’s Andy Evans who helped his side to a 5-0 win over Newcastle Emlyn.

Elsewhere, Llanidloes Town, Builth Wells and Brecon Corries advanced while Bishop’s Castle will be the amateur league’s only club in the last eight.

Llanfair United’s JD Cymru North revival continued by coming back from behind to draw 2-2 with Llandudno, while debutant George Mitten had a late penalty saved as Llanrhaeadr lost 1-0 at home to Colwyn Bay.

In MMP Mid Wales League action, Llandrindod Wells kept their slim title hopes alive with a 7-2 win at Kerry, while bottom side Llansantffraid Village earned three points at Four Crosses, their first win of the season. Struggling Abermule picked up three useful points at Knighton in Division Two.
