The enormous amount of cash being gambled on each JD Cymru Premier football match has been revealed by the world’s leading supplier of sports integrity solutions.

According to www.clwbpeldroed.org, Sportradar Integrity Services revealed that in November 2019, an average of £745,000 is being bet on each game, including Newtown – a 15% increase from the last figures in 2017.

Sportsradar have continued to assist the Football Association of Wales in working with all JD Cymru Premier clubs on preventing match-fixing. At a recent workshop, topics covered included focusing on education and preventing match-fixing.

They were provided real-life situations and studies, alongside key stakeholders of the Welsh game at a FAW Integrity training workshop which provides anti-match-fixing education.

Other topics included motivations of match-filers, how they recruit targets, the risks and consequences of match-fixing and how to prepare against the integrity risks.

“The FAW have been long-standing partners of ours and have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to integrity down through the years,” said Andrew Whittingham, the Head of Education for Integrity Services, told the web site.

“This is our third integrity tour in conjunction with the FAW, and it is really reaffirming to see the importance they continue to place on anti-match-fixing education.

“We look forward to visiting all 12 teams in the JD Cymru Premier and engaging with their players and staff once again over the coming weeks.”

Jonathan Ford, Chief Executive of the FAW, added to Whittingham’s comments saying: “Dating back to 2014, we have worked alongside Sportradar’s specialists in the integrity field to deliver educational workshops to our teams as part of our overall integrity programme.”
