Llanidloes open up nine-point gap

17/11/2019 @ 09:39

Llanidloes Town have opened up a nine-point advantage at the top of the MMP Mid Wales league Division One.

The Daffs toiled hard for their 1-0 win over Carno with skipper, Ed Clarke, scoring the winner in the dying seconds of the first half.

Their main rivals are struggling to keep up, with Berriew and Welshpool Town sharing four goals and Caersws going down 1-0 at Radnor Valley. Kerry, meanwhile, won 3-1 at Montgomery.

In the top tier, Newtown took the lead at Connah’s Quay Nomads in the JD Cymru Premier, but the league leaders came back strongly to win 3-1.

Guilsfield have bounced back from losing director of football Nathan Leonard and a midweek defeat over the past week to move into the top five of the JD Cymru North.

A single goal from Jake Cooke close to the hour secured a 1-0 win at Llangefni Town, putting the villagers back on track.

At the ‘Theatre of Trees’, Llanrhaeadr were unlucky not to secure three points in a 2-2 draw with Ruthin whose keeper was in fine form, but Llanfair United are adrift at the bottom following a 7-0 defeat at impressive Prestatyn.

There were wins for Bishop’s Castle and Waterloo Rovers in the Central Wales Cup, while five goals in extra time saw Guilsfield Reserves win 8-3 at Caersws Reserves in the Emrys Morgan Cup.
