Montgomeryshire’s representation in the Welsh Cup is looking threadbare with only Guilsfield advancing to the third round, where Newtown and other JD Cymru Premier clubs will join the action.
Guilsfield won 5-1 at minnows Llanneffydd, but Llanidloes Town crashed out at Abertillery Bluebirds and Llanfair United lost at Llandudno.
Meanwhile, in the JD Cymru Premier, Newtown picked up another impressive victory when Sam Barnes, Ian Sheridan and Nick Rushton all scored in their 3-1 Friday night win over Caernarfon Town.
Welshpool Town made up some ground at the top of the MMP Mid Wales League with a 5-2 win over Kerry, while Montgomery Town and Carno shared the points. Waterloo Rovers suffered at the hands of Machynlleth in Division Two.
In the Emrys Morgan Cup, Trewern were well beaten 5-0 at Brecon Corinthians.
