Cale follows chairman out of Robins

29/05/2011 @ 10:49

Just hours after chairman Mike Jones announced his resignation as chairman of Newtown Football Club manager Andy Cale and assistant Lee Williams have left the club.
Cale, the league's most successful manager, resigned announcing that he could no longer work with the club, following Jones' departure.
"My vision for the future of the club is clearly not shared by the board of directors and my position has become untennable," said Cale.
"I worked with the lowest budget in the Welsh Premier League last season and the players have been magnificent.
"They responded to the changes that were needed to take the club forward and the management and squad were  completely behind the chairman in ensuring the short and long term future of Newtown FC
"But those aims are clearly not shared by all members of the board of directors and without their full support it is impossible for Lee and myself to continue.
"We have the basis of a very strong Welsh Premier League side at the club and I was confident that we could press on to becoming a top six club next season.
"But the board has decided that a further overall reduction in expenditure is required and the management team has to respect that decision.
"I wish the club, the players and the supporters every success in the future and thank them for their support.
"Working with chairman Mike Jones has been a privelidge and along with Lee Williams I wish him well for the future."
